YOU QUALIFY TO TAKE A ROAD TEST IF:

• You must be between the ages of 16 to 18
• Must have a Valid/Current Pictured Texas Learners Permit and have held permit for a minimum of 6 months (check the back of your permit for the date)
• Must have completed an approved Teen Driver Education Program (32 Classroom hours and 14 Behind the Wheel hours of Instruction)
• Must have a DE-964 (Commercial Driving School) and/or PT-964 (Parent Taught)
• Watched 2-hour ITTD video and have a valid completion certificate (expires 90 days after issue date)
• V.O.E. (Verification of Education) from your school

The road test is available to any Teen that has met the above requirements No matter where you completed Teen Driver Ed.

You must have completed 32 Classroom hours and 14 Behind the Wheel hours of Instruction. A certificate of completion is required (DE-964 or PT-964).

If you have NOT previously taken the road test at the D.P.S. office and your DE-964/PT-964 was scanned into the system and/or retained by the office, we will need your original completion certificate.

You must watch the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) 2-hour video. After watching the ITTD, you need to print the Certificate of Completion and bring it with you at the time of your Road Test.

ROAD TEST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

• Use of 3-Way Instruction's vehicle for testing
• Test criteria provided to applicant prior to administrating the test
• Upon completion of road test, the examiner will review errors and solutions to correct errors
• Copies are $2 per page.
• Retests are $50.00.

• Must have completed an approved Adult Driver Education Course
• Must present an ADE-1317 completion certificate
• Watched 1-hour ITYD video and have a valid completion certificate (expires 90 days after issue date)

The road test is available to any Adult that has met the above requirements No matter where you completed Adult Driver Ed (on-line, another Commercial Driving School).

You must have completed 6 Classroom hours of Adult Driver Ed (ADE-1317 certificate is required).

If you have NOT previously taken the road test at the D.P.S. office and your ADE-1317 certificate was scanned into the system and/or retained by the office, we will need your original completion certificate.

You must watch the Impact Texas Young Drivers (ITYD) 1-hour video. After watching the ITTD, you need to print the Certificate of Completion and bring it with you at the time of your Road Test.
